MINIMAL COLLECTION
“A collection inspired by a radio”
WORKING WITH RATTAN
When we started working on this project, we decided to use rattan as the main material for the collection. Then, we kept working trying to find the rest of materials that could work together with the rattan. Inspired by the Braun SK-1 radio, we thought about working with wood and lacquered pieces that could create a common language for all the different pieces. The result is a collection with interesting details that migth remind some old pieces from the 70’s while it could fit in any modern environment.
The pieces are designed following a modular structure that would allow easy variations for the future. By this way, the pieces could be presented in different finishes and materials without changing the main elements of the structure.

NEW CLASSICS
The rounded corners, the wood details and the rattan panels give to these pieces a classic look that might remind some classic pieces from the 60’s and 70’s. However, the combination with the metal parts and the lacquered boards makes these furniture pieces perfect for many different environments.
INSPIRED BY THE SK1 RADIO
We thought about the idea that many people listen to the radio when they go to bed… This idea made us think about the iconic Braun SK1 radio. “It would be fun to design a a bed inspired by a radio”
FROM THE SKETCHES TO THE RESULTS
During the project we developed different ideas through sketching. Then, some ideas were tested with 3d printed scaled down mockups. We also made some full scale mockups to test the ideas just before moving forward to the first prototypes. Finally, we tested the prototypes and we had to implement some modifications.
